1969 hood lip trim / molding

Hi,
I'm a newbie, I recently acquired a 1969 Custom Cab short bed. I've learned quite a bit, and a lot of that is a result of this site.
Here's my question: I've seen no mention of the stainless steel hood lip trim...I am trying to source parts for a restoration, and I can't find these (for 67-69) mentioned online. Anyone know a source? I see a couple used corner pieces on eBay, but no center piece.

The aluminum hood trim wasn't factory available until 70. Dennis-Carpenter.com should have the trim for sale.

Is there any difference between the '69 and '70 hood as far as mounting the lip trim?
One of the reference photos on this site (Grill ID reference) shows a '69 Ranger with the lip trim. My guess is that the hood is the same, but would require some mounting holes drilled.

Basically the outside is the same hood, The only real difference is the F.O.R.D letters on the hood. 69 and earlier used different letters then the 70 and later and they have different mounting points so the holes would have to be predrilled if trying to swap out letters.

You would have to predrill holes to use lip trim on 69 and earlier hoods. Also there's no access to the back side of the outer pieces. Factory had little inserts installed for the screws.

If you had access to a 70 and up hood with the lip trim it would be easier to redrill the hood letters.

Thanks Hazelnut, that's really good info. I've been temporarily sidetracked by mechanical issues, and wheel/tire questions (see my other post). I'm still interested in doing the lip trim, but the hood (which I think is original) that's installed is really nice & color matched to the truck. While it may be a little while before I have to really deal with the question, I'm thinking that there may be some options...pop rivets? Riv-Nuts? Access holes drilled in from the inside to access that inaccessible void from the inside (back side) of the hood? I'm not sure how many holes we're talking, I know there's three pieces, two short corners and a long center piece. Wish I had some original bumpsides lying around nearby I could look at for reference!

I guess it's a good question: Has anyone with a '67 - '69 hood installed lip trim? Inquiring minds would like to know...

I did on my 69 just because I really liked the look. The post above is accurate. There is no way to access the backside of the hood to install / tighten the nuts that hold the trim on. Pop-rivets won't work.

I simply drilled new access holes on the backside of the hood and installed with no problem. It totally changes the look.

Thanks! I really like the look of the hood molding, as I think it frames the grill nicely with the hood molding about, and chrome bumper below. I'm looking forward to getting to that phase of the restore!
