kinda lame Newbie post...but here goes

Post by biznash »

OK, so i love old Ford trucks. So do my sons who are 3 and 7. I live in an area where it was not possible up to this point to have a project truck. Now we are moving to a home with a 3 car garage, (woo hoo!) so the a classic Ford Truck is on my to-do list.

Since i have no horse in the game yet, only going by looks, what do i need to know. What year is best to fix up, etc. I really dog the 1971 Ford F100 look, i am leaning towards those. I like the ones with 2 tone paint and all the chrome trim, etc. Is this a special model i should be looking at?

I have plenty of time to work on it, i'd like to eventually have a sick ride to be able to take to home depot and cruise around town in. Mainly a weekend truck.

Anyways, i knew this was the place to start. I'll be lurking around. If you could help steer me in the right direction with some info, i'd appreciate it!

I would find out what's available, determine the condition including inspecting it for rust and decide whether it's worth your effort. You can paint it whatever colors you want. I think you'll be happy with whatever you get. After working on it you'll have a feeling of accomplishment and pride. Mine is a 71 4x4 and I love it but it's the only one I've ever had so I can't say it's better or worse than another model. It was my father's.

Good luck!
