New from Pacific Northwest Washington

Post by jg09 »

Hey guys, new to the board here. I picked up this '69 F-250 for $800. It doesn't look like much but almost all of the rust is just surface stuff and it's surprisingly mechanically sound. I was looking around for a fullsize pickup since my girlfriend's '97 Ranger (4 cyl, 5 spd) really can't handle what I need a truck for and I think she expected me to find something a little newer. When I showed her the ad for this truck, she asked me, "why not just get something newer? you could finance a much newer truck." :hmm:

My answer? "I don't want a newer truck!" I've always told her that if it's got fuel injection, it's too new for me! (My daily driver is a '73 Maverick sedan, to put that into perspective.)

Overall, I'm hugely happy with this truck. I've got a couple things that I need to sort out with it, but nothing too major.

Exactly! I can more than make up the difference in fuel costs for what a car payment costs each month! :woohoo:

My sentiments exactly! My DD is a '74 Dodge Dart with a /6 and auto tranny. My wife drives a 2015 Kia Sorento and pays $500+/month. :hmm:

Welcome from The Dalles, Oregon

Like the truck
Due to the high cost of ammunition, you can no longer expect a warning shot.

When someone was beating on my door hollering "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms", I naturally assumed it was a delivery.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! Over the past week, I've been wrenching on this truck whenever I have a spare moment and it's really paying off! I love this old truck, and with gas prices the way they are, I can actually afford to daily drive it for a little bit! :D

From eastern Washington, the driest place in the state with not enough tree's.

Love your story. Had the same exact conversation with my wife. "Why buy that old 72 when you can buy a brand new truck". LOL,

Welcome to you, too! I was blown away the first time I went east of mountains and saw that there was a large part of this state where grass only grew where the sprinklers watered!

Yeah not much over here without water, lol
Harsh difference in climate and style of living from where I'm from, Wisconsin.

Tip: If your looking for factory original parts. You got to check out www.lmctruck.com (LMC TRUCKS) They do sell after market items as well.

Order some parts with standard shipping and it took 6 days counting weekend from them (back east somewhere) to my place.

Good Luck with the truck, post pictures of what you do.
