Here are the pictures of the bed removal. It came off fairly well other that the fact the some of the bolts spun. As I said before, there is not much left to the box.

My dad also managed to fab up the cab corners while the box was on. No idea how he did that

I think you could easily save that bed. Cut out the floor and replace it with wood. the sides seem to be in pretty good condition and you can build new cross bracing and have a custom bed at the end.

I was thinking of doing that, but the bed is worse than what it looks like in the pictures. There was also some low quality body work done to it at one point also. Both sides at the back of the bed have some patches riveted on and covered with filler.

Wow, I didn't realize how long its been since I last posted on here Not much I can do at the moment since the garage is full, and the weather is horrible. The only plus side to not being able to work on the truck is working on my deer hunting stand. Can't wait until November Its also the first year for me that I can hunt alone.

Once we get one of the Mustangs out of the garage my truck will go back in over winter. The plan for the step side bed is still a go. My dad is waiting to get some sheets of cardboard from where he works so we can mock up the bed. I like the look of the bed with the spare tire mounted on the side. Since it would be a long bed, the spare tire fills up that huge gap between the fender and the cab. Does anyone think it would be weird to mount a spare tire on both sides of the box?

Wow, it has been awhile since the old Ford got any attention. Finally got the deer stand finished and now can get working on the truck again. I got a wild hair today and decided to start painting the frame. Eventually we will pull the cab and paint the entire frame properly. For now I just did the front section.

Finally have some time to work on the bump now with Christmas break for the rest of the week. Last weekend my Dad and I took most of the front suspension apart and I finished up today by taking the brake drums and backing plates off of the spindles and dropped the I-beams also. Hopefully this will be the last time it comes apart. I still need to find radius arms and buy the bushing kit. We were hoping to go junkyarding tomorrow, but with a wind chill of -30 expected, I doubt that will happen Gotta love Wisconsin weather

Well, i currently have the radius arm bushings and kingpins purchased, and I am still waiting on the I-beam bushings. Picked up a pair of radius arms from a junkyard, and turns out that they were shot also They are better than the ones I have, but are still fairly bad. So... I plan on getting a pair from a dentside instead, since anything from a bumpside is shot where i live.





And the step side bed idea is a no go. I saw a long bed step side in a junkyard, and it just doesn't look right.

Speaking of slow and steady, I have a ton of progress to post that I was to lazy to do awhile ago. I did manage to find a pair of perfect radius arms off of a dentside at a junkyard. The radius arms were forged, not stamped, so I'm guessing early dentsides used forged radius arms instead of stamped. Anyway, I cleaned and painted all of the front suspension components. Just waiting on shocks so I can put the front end back together. And as a side note, coil springs are a PITA to clean and paint. Definitely was time consuming.

My dad and I also pulled the passenger side door to start doing work on it. The previous body work consisted of cheap tin and bondo.
