Hello to everyone from Sunny East coast Australia!
My name is Jimmy and I am big fan of the 5th gen F-100's and I am currently negotiating to bring a F100 4x4 1971 home from the US. They were sold here 67-72, but only in 6 cylinder variants. Current daily drive is a black 2012 ford ranger xlt, which I guess is the Aussie version of the f-100. Only boring diesels offered here though!
Was hoping to get some advice. The 1971 truck I am trying to buy is a factory 360 as per VIN plate. According to owner its still a factory 360, but the engine tag shows 390 and 1969. Is it correct that 390 was not offered in 4wd models? Judging by the condition of the tag I am assuming its a reproduction tag.
I know 360 and 390 same block block, so did tags say 360 or 390 for whichever one they were?
Also, colour code is blank on vin plate and I now special orders were usually blank, so how do you find out original colour without any old docs etc?
