1968 Camper Special P-brake cable
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a Parking Brake cable for a '68 Camper Special? Apparently, a regular cable for a 3/4 ton does not fit. I've scoured the web and can't seem to find one anywhere.
Looking forward to not rolling away.
Thanks,
Mark

Does your tank have the factory in-frame auxiliary tank? If so, then that's why a standard cable won't fit...because it has to reach around that tank, so it's a little longer than a standard cable. I've got some photos of mine on Page 40 (Figs. 7-10) and Page 44 (Figs. 3 & 4).
About all I can suggest is to start calling the NOS parts dealers (listed on the Links page here), like Green Sales and give them the part number, and see what you can find. I've seen a couple NOS pieces come through E-bay, but not for a while now. Here's an exploded-view schematic of the parking brake assemblies from the factory parts manual:

You nailed it Keith. I've got the Camper Special with the Auxiliary tank. I tried Greens with no luck. We're going to pull the cable over the weekend and see if it's feasible to have a custom one built. Thanks for the help.

dcbullet,
Looks like I need the long cable that goes directly around the aux tank to the brake. See the posting above. If you've got any thoughts on locating one, please let me know.
Thanks for the post.

re: 1968 Camper Special P-brake cable
Guys,
I dug into the problem today and discovered that the cable I need is the one that runs from the yoke back to the rear right brake. Is this a standard cable? The one from the P-brake to the yoke appears to be OK.
Thanks,
Mark

Yes, Camper Specials have the same rear two cables as the others.

re: 1968 Camper Special P-brake cable
I think I've just about exhausted all of my resources looking for a Right Rear Parking Brake Cable. I've tried all of the online parts folks as well as a trip to a couple of yards. The part # on the diagram is 2A635. If anyone can help me track one down, I'd be greatly appreciative.

re: 1968 Camper Special P-brake cable
Keith,
Sorry this has been so long and drawn out. I appreciate the help. I've been successful finding a cable, but it's only for an F100. How do I go about determining if it will fit an F250?

It's the same cable. I'm running an F250 cable on my F100....fits perfectly. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
