New face, Familiar truck.

Post by Highboy_Firefighter_71 »

Hello all! My name is Seth from Monmouth, OR, just outside of Salem. While I may be a new face, this site is far from new to me. I've owned bumpside Fords ever since I was 13 years old when I bought my first, a 1970 F250 camper special. At the end of high school I decided I wanted to go the 4x4 route and sold my beloved 70, to buy a 71 highboy. Through the time I owned both of the bumps I visited this site on many occasions. The information, the articles, the literature, the support... they all can't be found anywhere but this site. Many of the other sites I visited ended up having links posted to here anyways. Unfortunately, in order to pay for college and save money on my 45 minute commute to school each day, I sold my 71. To this day I regret the decision to sell her, despite the fact she tracked down the road at about a 10* angle. When I graduated school this summer, I saw the opportunity to once again become a bumpside owner and decided to sell my pickup and get back where I needed to be. Just this last week I came across a truck I couldn't pass up. The time, the effort, the care given to this truck couldn't be beat. I even went so far as to pass up a rare supercab dentside highboy in order to pursue this truck. While I may be a new face to this community, the truck I had the honor of buying is a familiar one. Thank you Heep70 for allowing me to carry on the legacy of your 71 Highboy and I look forward to all of the fun times to come! I can't wait to start participating in the forums here and sharing the progress as she comes!

Now that, right there, is a story I like to hear! :wel:

I have fond memories of my parents' 69 F250. It was the first vehicle I ever "drove" as a little 10 year old kid on a sunday morning. I was the first to the truck on the way to church and was "driving" (turning the wheel and moving the shifter) and put the truck in neutral. It rolled down the driveway, across the street and into a haystack. Nobody and nothing hurt. I was just a little embarassed. My 71 F100 Explorer embodies some of those fond memories. :)

Cheers,
Duane

Good day Seth,

Thanks so much for the nice photos and story.

It's great that you took over on this truck from Greg. I (and probably many other forum members) eyeballed his truck and visualized becoming its new owner a number of times; it's a real hum dinger.

Thanks again for your very nice first post and photos.

There it is! Hi Seth! Glad you joined up. Great bunch of folks here. Damn! I miss her. I couldn't go outside and clean up the mess tell the next day. But all is good now. That ol truck was the most reliable vehicle I had too. HA! I turned away a few folks over the years of trying to sell her off and on Craig's list. I am very glad that you emailed me and bought her. I would had kept her tell I found the right person. Man, that sounds bad. Makes me sound like I put my own child up for adoption  . Anywho Bro, best of luck to ya, stay safe and have fun. Post some pics as you fix her up. You know where to find me if you run into questions about it. Greg
