New with a 72

Hi, I wanted to introduce myself. I recently bought a 72 F100 custom, swb, 302, automatic. I also purchased a 72 F250 camper special for parts, but may hold off on making it a parts truck. After cleaning the F250 up a bit, seems to be in good condition. Are the 72 F250's very desirable or sought after??? I am new to the site and will appreciate any suggestions. I look forward to meeting everyone.

from Georgia! It depends on what you use the truck for. If you want "stylin' n profilin'" stick with the swb. If you want a work horse, go with the F250, especially if it's a Camper Special and has the 390

Generally speaking the SWB trucks are more sought after because of the resto/mod craze and there for are more expensive, in my area at least. But as Randy said above, the F250 is a go to work horse. I actually like driving the full length more than the shorty's. The short beds feel a little twitchy to me.

Unfortunately it only has the 360 in it. The body is so straight I just hate to rob parts from it, but I sure could use a ton of them on the F100.

As others have said, the F100 swb truck is worth more money on the market, while the F250 lwb trucks are plentiful and all over the place. You can always swap the parts and make the F250 not as nice looking, but still run fine. The F250 will still be a workhorse and just not as pretty as it does not need a straight fender to haul things. While the truck you are restoring gets all of the best parts out of the 2 (other than the bed) and ends up looking nicer. Just keep in mind that if you are swapping the driver's doors, then you will probably want to swap the VIN plates on the doors as well so your VIN plates match the trucks they are on.
