Bobby, she really likes it, I have a short video of her after her first drive in this latest configuration, her smile was priceless. She told me how people were giving her the thumbs up. You know, I owe this site a great deal in regards to providing motivation, ideas and perhaps most importantly camaraderie. There were times when I just felt like washing my hands of the whole deal and putting it on the back burner (like 18 years wasnt already on the back burner). We bought this truck that long ago to be a cool project to do together but a little thing called cancer threw her for a loop. Then some things dont seem as important. But she's a strong person and dealt with every setback that was thrown at her. This is probably the most down to earth car related site I've seen bar none, never any drama or guys flaming one another. People like yourself always ready and willing to provide an answer to a question, even if been asked dozens of time before. It's really a testament to the caliber of people that make up this community.

Rumblin 46, Mike did the flash ( or wrote the tune, or whatever they call it) on the ECU in this truck. He's really a good guy and showed a lot of patience with an old dinosaur like me.

That's an awesome story, Dave. Great write-up on the truck. I had some set backs last year but this inspires me to get back to work on my truck. I have other vehicles that need attention, too.

Totally agree with this statement! I have been through a lot of "car" phases, stangs, diesels, even my new F150 and there isn't a single forum out there without drama.... sad really however,

I also second your comment about Mike's patience, I could go into my story but no need really. All I know is if I ever need tuning and Mike can do it, he's the only one on my list!

Hi everybody! Can someone shed some light on this? I just got my 3 point seatbelts from Wesco. Install is going good EXCEPT, the upper mounting point for the shoulder strap is already threaded for 3/8 X 16 course thread. It has never been used prior to us buying the truck so I know it hasnt been altered. The upper mounting point is very flimsy for lack of a better word. The threaded insert is located in a piece of thin stamped steel and with the bolt inserted I can literally wiggle it. The threads are tight, it's the surrounding metal that I can flex. Are all the upper mounting points like this? It doesnt inspire much confidence. I'm half tempted to cut the cab open and weld in a thicker piece of bar stock, but dont really want to go thru that.

Any insight?

I agree that the mount points seem flimsy. I wouldn't chide you for beefing them up. I kept mine stock, but I also don't have any welding skills to speak of.

Since your mount points are already threaded, I say get some 8 hardness bolts to fit 'em and call it good. If they weren't threaded, I have some OEM bolts I could have set you up with.

If you've got long arms you reach up in there and get to the back of the mount. How about getting a 1/4" plate about 3" square, drill a hole in it and weld an obround style locknut to it. Then drill through the original mount and get a shoulder bolt, then torque it down. The plate will provide a much larger surface area and stiffen the cab wall. Might have to bow the plate and recess the nut to provide clearance for the original mount. Just brainstorming.
