Next are the rotors with new bearings, races, seals, caps and cotter pins. The nut and washer on the driver side are also new in this case.

Then the calipers.
The brake hoses for 73-79 trucks need a little modification to fit the narrower frame of the bumpside. I am sure if I took the time I could find an appropriate hose for this application but my trusty 3/8 line bender came through for me. Pre-plan and be careful with this bend, to far forward and it rubs the spring or shock, too far back and it still won’t be long enough at steering lock.

I installed the pads and put the caliper on, moving it up to the top of the bracket to leave a gap at the bottom where the pin and spring go,

with a little help from a soft faced hammer.

Now the special caliper bolt gets installed.

The only thing left to do now is paint the shocks blue, add the ford logo and install.
Well, I guess I could bleed the brakes too.
I’ll put the tires back on after I sit here for awhile with a cold one and admire my handiwork.

Narrower frame? :hmm:

Aren't dent side frames wider than bump side? http://www.fordification.com/tech/chass ... arison.htm

Dent frames are wider than Bump frames from the back of the cab to the rear bumper. The front half is the same, which is why the I-B beams are interchangeable, between Dent & Bump.

With the single exception of the F250 Highboy (4x4) which stayed the same until 1977-1/2

The reason why the brake lines didn't work correctly is because the frame brackets are different for the disc brake application. I don't know when the brackets changed as my 67 and 68 f100 drum brake trucks both had that style of frame bracket but my 72 f100 drum brake and 72 f250 disc brake trucks both had the correct part. I will try to scrounge up a picture of what I am talking about.

Hey all, trickf100 is correct, it is the brackets that make the difference. The dentsides have a much longer brake line that curves up to the top of the frame and corresponding bracket that mounts the hose on the bottom and line on top. The bracket causes the hose to take on an "S" shape that I am not really into. Sorry about the confusion on the frame comment. The modified hoses have all the flex I need, don't rub or leak, and only have one gradual bend so this is the way they stay. Even with all that I will eventually need to change the brake lines when I install the adjustable proportioning valve, after the power brake installation. Thanks for reading, hope to be back again soon.

The bracket changed after '70.
'71-'72 brackets are taller and are the ones that you want to use when doing a disc brake swap on a '67-'70 F100.

Got the front sway bar mounted. No pics because I left my phone at home, so I just have the "After" shot. The bar is from an 89 E-150 but the links are from an unknown source since I had several sets thrown in a box from various scavenging trips. The links from the van did not have big enough eyes for the bolts in the mounts and the 77 F-150's links and bar were missing when I pulled the front end.

I also changed the engine ground from the brittle insulation multi-strand to a braided one from a 92 F-350 I have sitting around.

After that I changed the choke ring from the heater hose version to the electric version. Its been like that for a while, I've just been a little lazy in regards to the small stuff.
