Weak Door Panel
I have a door that I am repairing and when I put any pressure on the door like sanding it a small dent forms that will pop right back out if I hit the door. From research I think this can be fix by shrinking the metal. But I am not sure of the proper procedure.

had a friend to get rid of the same dent with a acetylene torch. He said he was shrinking the metal so the dent would stop popping inwards.

If you know what you're doing you can heat shrink metal.
If you don't know what you're doing you can get a piece of sheet metal and silicone it to the inside of the panel. once it cures it will strengthen the panel.
Appliy the silicone so it won't trap water and cause rust.

If you have a set(torches that is )to work with. Get your flame just past the black soot stage and a bucket of water with rag. In a circular motion with the torch...get a 3-4" cherry spot on the metal and dab the wet rag over it....don't do same spot twice. Do this around the area that is popping in and out
I've had enough and I'm not alone

That seems like a big spot to heat at once.67mann wrote:get a 3-4" cherry spot on the metal and dab the wet rag over it
Instead try dime to nickle size spots in a 3-4"circle .
and don't dab a wet rag, but quench it with a really wet rag.

Thank you for the replys. So don't have a acetylene torch would a propane torch work? Or will it not get the metal hot enough

Would hurt to try just do little spots.
