Greetings from Sydney, Australia.
Greetings to you all,
This is my first ever post on any forum, so here the story goes.
After some years of hunting around this site for vital bumpside information, I thought it was about time I contributed and let those interested know about my project and some things, perhaps innovative or perhaps not, that I am doing with my 1967/71 'bitsa' of a bumpside here in Australia.
Firstly, I say 'bitsa' because it has got DNA from various manufacturers and is not truly a Ford through and through. For those who are Ford 'bumpside' officianadoes, please accept my appologies. This project started off with a heart felt responsibility to do something worthwhile with my worn out old work truck and a honest desire to bring it back to its former life of glory. Although as time went on the devil teased me with the temptation of torque and horsepower, and pulled me lower towards hell and I've ended up misguided; and I love it.
So to put you in the picture here is the history of the 'Bitsa'; otherwise called the Hog at home.
I purchased the truck back in 1998 as a straight canadian six three speed manual SWB. It was painted red. It had two previous owners., The first being the New South Wales Police Force where it was a 'bull' wagon or as some refer to them as a 'Paddy' wagon. After its life as a cop car it was purchased by a fellow who had an excavation business and he used it as his fuel and spares truck. It was fitted it up with diesel storage tanks and also carried his spare excavator tracks around. It was painted red and affectionally called 'The Pig' primarily because it had no power steeting and was a 'pig' to drive, not to its working heritage.
I then grabbed it and set out updating it a bit, so I could use it as my builders (contractors) truck. I bought a Ford XD Faclon ex-police pursuit car which had a 351C and a C4 and used it as a donor vehicle. I pulled out the Canandian 6 and in went to 351c and C4. I installed a Datsun 240K power steering box and away I went. With the new motor came the new name of the Hog.
About five years ago I started to rebuild the whole truck, each nut and bolt.
As I said it's a 'bitsa'. The 351C has been rebuilt and has a low blow Weiand supercharger which is set up for torque and a little horse power. I am working on adapting a ZF 6HP26 6 speed auto to it.
It had DJM dream beams and lowered springs on the front and I flipped the 9" axle and dropped the rear. It also had Nissan GTR 35 380mm brake disks front and back with Brembo calipers, although that is all changing now, as I wanted better steering and handling and I like to sort most things out myself and try and stick to being a hotrodder and afdaptiong things and making things, instead of buying them. That's no to say I don't buy some after market things, as I do, but I'll try hard to do it myself first most of the time.
For the front end I've searched and searched for a good front end available in Australia (the Mustang II and Crown Victoria front ends are rare here) and after much measuring I came up with a Lexus CS400 double wishbone front end as being the perfect solution.
The rear end is a little wilder, as I have also searched for a IRS as the Cobra and alike rear ends are just as rare as the aforementioned front ends, so being a little devilish, I looked at the Japanese 'muscle' cars and decided on a Nissan GTR33 GTST IRS. I hope to do some posts about same. As for the rest of the truck, its been tubbed, pinched, the floor pan and tunnel altered, firewall smoothed and last but not least the rear window is electric up and down.
So that's it for the intro. If you have taken the time to read this intro thanks for your time and I look forward to engaging with youn and the FORDification community generally by putting a little back in after only taking knowledge away over the last few years.

Welcome aboard! I would be interested in seeing how you got that power steering box to work.
