Greetings

Post by eod4647 »

Just wanted to say hello. I will be picking a "new to mw" 1969 F100 on Monday (1 Sep). It's been 18 years since I sold my last 1969 F100. I miss that truck, it was a 300 with a manual transmission. The one I'm picking up Monday is a 352 and probably a C6, but I'm not sure. Don't have a lot of information at the moment, haven't driven the truck yet either. It is a two wheel drive, long bed, chrome grill/front bumper with West Coast Jr. style mirrors.Once I get the truck home I will get some pictures uploaded.
It currently belongs to my daughter's boyfriend/father to my 3 yo grandson. They are having to pay some bills and I'm tired of bailing them out with little benefit to myself. So this way I get an old truck and they get some money. And as part of the deal it won't truly be mine for about 8 - 10 months. I'm giving him the option to buy it back for the price I pay if he wants to do, and after they get back on their feet financially.
So the current plan is just to get the truck home, get it safe to drive (has a few minor issues) and that's about it. Known issues at the moment are the brake lights operated off a toggle switch, a battery cable clamped to the battery with some vice grips and a missing lug nut. Probably a few other issues I haven't been told about. I told my daughetr to quit mentioning problems as I might not want the truck!
I don't know how the truck was equipped fromthe factory, but Wes installed a rebuilt 352, has an Edelbrock carb, a Mallory coil and a flame thrower distributor along with Hedman headers. If I wind up keeping the truck long term it will most likely get a manual transmission and disc brakes on the front and possibly on the rear as well. And maybe if I can find all the parts, I'll swap in a Big Six with a three speed and a 3OTT column. That's the combo in my last truck and it was just flat out fun to drive.

Thanks for all the welcomes!
Well I picked up the truck yesterday. Drove it home (about 90 miles) without problems. But there are lots of things needing to be fixed. It made it home and I was pleased. Just guessing (didn’t actually fill the tank) but it probably burned 10 of the 15 gallons so around 8 or 8 mpg. It actually might wind up being a parts truck because of some VIN/Title issues. But I knew there was something going in to it, so not a big deal, really. My daughter has some money to pay bills and I’ve got a project...
So tonight I need to check the VIN on the frame and see if it matches the title. The door plate doesn’t but maybe the frame will. Probably not so then it will be time to start digging. Need to figure out what happened with the truck the title matches and how Wes got the truck I drove home. Cab isn’t the greatest, the engine runs good, transmission seems okay (might need a bit of fluid) and the bumpers are straight (chrome front, argent step bumper in the back).
I’ll put up some pictures once I get some good ones and figure out where to start. Right now I think the short list is what works, as opposed to what doesn’t! So I will most likely start asking questions about stuff and they will wind up in the appropriate sections of this forum.
But as I make progress I will try and keep you up to date. Will most likely start a build thread at some point. And thanks again for the welcomes from the various members.
