Longtime lurker with a '67 Flare
Proud Ford owner in Central California. Late in 2013 I bought a 67 F100 Flareside. Having never really done much work on my computerized cars, I wanted to get back to the days when you could climb into engine bays. I spent the last 6 months trying to run down a carb backfire and have poured over many posts on this site. It has been a fountain of knowledge and I can only imagine how much money I may have saved, identifying & fixing the backfire issues on my own.
A big thanks to all the owners that contribute on the boards.

Re: Longtime lurker with a '67 Flare-PHOTOS
As requested by JWW here are some pictures of my 1967 Flare-Bump F100.
Just put in new spark wires yesterday and that proved to be a good investment. I had a nagging backfire that appeared to be gone until I was driving it around doing some work. After 30 minutes of stop and go traffic and a lot of low speeds the engine began to backfire through the carb and performance was not there. After I finished up I took her out on the freeway and was able to get up to freeway speeds after some backfiring down the on ramp. I exited the freeway and had only one backfire. Checked for cross sparking under low light and manipulated the wires to see if anything sparked.....nothing. I had already ordered some new Taylor wires so I put them on the next morning. Drove around again with same conditions 90+ degrees out, stop and go, low speeds. Not one backfire.
