I've been debating getting this thing somewhat restored and installing it back on my truck. The PO didn't like it and removed it before he had the truck painted. The main thing I like about the Ranger is all the shiny trim, but I'm kinda on the fence about this piece.
What would you guys do?

Re: tailgate trim, yay or nay?
I'd vote for a compromise. I don't like the full panel, but there was chrome trim that went around the taillight lenses (yours is missing?) and connector pieces that went across the tailgate top/bottom that matched up with the tops and bottoms of the lens trim.
you could use the trim without the little panel piece, they were separate.

Dare to be different.... do like Mach 1 Mustangs and black out the entire area where the tailgate mouldings would surround and then paint the F-O-R-D letters.

I've thought about going this route but those pieces are expensive.

I dig your idea, but my truck is a two tone. I think this idea would lend itself better on a solid color truck.

I think I'd leave the painted tailgate. It's eye catching with the red on white. The infill panel seems to have some dents and dings in it; I just think the painted setup looks cleaner.
Either way, it will look good.
