Hello from Houston, I'm the newest owner of this 1969 F250 390 Camper Special. Looking forward to getting the truck inspected & registered so I can drive it soon. Received it with a bad battery, got a new Motorcraft BXT-27-F, hold down assembly and ordered a tray. Truck fired right up, runs well considering the fuel is a little old, has some tip-in hesitation, so I ordered a carburetor rebuild kit (among many other maintenance-related items). It has just the one mid-ship tank and the toolbox behind the seat. I plan to pump the tank and use the fuel in lawn equipment. Not unlike the guy in Missouri, I too have to pass an inspection. I've been working on that off and on for about a week now. I had to order a few lights online, many of the bulbs were rotted. Got all that resolved, plan to take it for an inspection tomorrow. The Dietz marker bulbs were a PIA to figure out, bayonet style 15 mm dual terminal single filament bulbs - Wagner #1178 if anyone was wondering (I had to wreck the bulbs to get the them out - barely made out the number). The license plate lamp was rotted badly too, #97 there. I used Motorcraft XG-12-A grease to prevent any corrosion going forward. This grease should be in everyone's toolbox. Great stuff! I also had to use a little DeOxit on a few inline connectors to get bulbs working. More amazing stuff.
The truck is pretty solid, again, can't wait to start driving it.
It came with factory A/C (leaking on the HP line at the compressor - no Freon), a nice Cobra CB radio, hang-on intermittent wiper controls (LOL JC Whitney from back in the days of paper catalogues), and it looks like someone swapped out the column or steering wheel at some point too, has a later-style wheel, maybe off a '72, it's 2-spoke.
Great site, I'm happy I found this. Tons of good information. Thanks for creating it!
