I have just purchased my next project, and I figured that some of you may like to see the progress as I turn this farm truck into a respectable and capable daily driver.
I've started to rent out a double car garage so that I can work on my projects out of the elements, and not have to rush things as I'm not battling mother nature! I put some fluorescent tube lights in just the other day, and over the next couple of days I'll be painting the dark wood paneling white, building a work bench, and moving all my tools! After that, the project will begin!
The plan is pretty modest. First things first. Brakes are gone! Rear brake cylinders are leaking and there is a bunch of air in the line. after that is done, I'll be going through the front end and making sure everything is tight, as well as re-packing wheel bearings, replacing bad parts, etc... After all that is good, I'll be pulling the bench seat and mat, then will begin repairs on the rotted cab floor. Since this is a work truck, and assuming it is affordable, I'll have the floor coated by the local spray in bed-liner guy. I think it will look OK, will be durable, prevent rust, and will wash out easily. Much more I'd like to do, but I'll stop telling you everything I want to do, and just show you....
Stay tuned!
Derek.
