Wiper mounting Q&A session

Post by Smitty127 »

Hi guys,
In the middle of cab resto and swap. It appears my body guys had some difficulty with the wiper pivot bolts and wiper motor bolts during cab disassembly and left me with a dilemma. My question is the threaded inserts that are pressed into the sheet metal mounting the wiper pivots and wiper motor hanger( 3 in total) have been popped out and are missing in action. WHAT ARE THEY CALLED! I can probably take them out of my original cab but would rather get some new ones.
Thanks,
Stu

I believe they are called rivet nuts or "rivnuts".

... also called 'nutserts'.

Ace hardware sells 'em. Jeg's sells an entire kit. 'Real handy.

Are you talking about the .5" x .7" rectangle with a threaded hole in the middle? It's called a Pierce Nut http://www.fabristeel.com/ProductsandSe ... ndards.htm

The only place I've seen them in small quantities is AMK products on page 62 of their catalog.
