Thinking Body Drop

Post by elgemcdlf »

Can someone measure and let me know how much space there is between the floor and the top of the frame rail? I am considering trying to drop the body on my truck. My truck is a couple hours away right now or I would just look at it. My initial thoughts are cut the front cab mounts off and lower them on the rail. Cut the front of the frame off right behind the core support and lower it the same amount as the cab mount. Then the fun part cut and lower every other mount point. If I could pick up a couple inches of drop I will probably go for it. If less I don't see it as being worth the effort. The passenger area is small as it is so I don't really want to raise the floor to do this.

What would you do to the bed floor to match the cab drop?

If I could have done what I was thinking I would have cut the frame at each mount point lowering the bed the same amount. Just enough to allow the support on the bed floor to drop down. Weld the tab back in place. I knew I wouldn't get more than 2" but with what I am getting for cab floor clearance I don't see this as a viable option.
