Thought you guys might like this. I have a thread over on FTE and there is too much to repeat so here is the link. Basically, I plan on being the first to do one piece windows in a 67 to 72.

:hn: I'll be the first to say cool idea if ya don't like the wing(I do)window. Is the door just a mock up candidate or are you gonna have to re-skin that one :? what would the cost of this be to someone(if interested)when ya get all the bug's out...start to finish or not interested in marketing the idea

It was a bad door that I had practiced bonding a skin on. I am going to document everything and post it here and on FTE. There is quite a bit of work in the hinge pocket and in the channel area where the door angles back. I'm not sure it would be feasible to sell a kit. I would feel bad for anyone who couldn't fab and weld who tried. But if I were to do it for someone; well, I'm not sure. I will have too see how long it takes once I get my templets made and streamline the process.

I did my old 67 back in the mid 90's and it was a PITA, but it was pretty cool and looked awesome. Good luck with it..

Any pics? what did you do for seals and swipes back then? What was your solution for the upper hinge and pocket? Any tips that you can provide could be helpful.

I used a universal ridgid felt channel for the front of the door that got epoxied and riveted in at a few spots, and I used 1 piece of universal flexible channel for the top and rear of the glass that I epoxied in while the glass got installed.The antirattle strips were universal strips that got screwed in with small #4 countersunk screws. On the hinges I basically built a new pocket (beafier) and modified the hinge by shortening and making the mounting holes turn 90 deg. Lost some adjustment but made up for alot by using shims, spent many hours dialing in the upper hinge before cutting, I think it took 2 tries to get it right on one side, but it worked fine. I will try and find pics but that was almost 20 years ago.I think the weatherstrip came from Steele but there are quite a few companies around now that sell them . Good luck..

I see you are just south of Ft. Worth. I'm here in Hurst. You going to Good Guys in March?

Sorry for the late response. I will post pics when I have everything going back together. Cab and doors are at the painter right now. I also decided to make these power windows. After going through all the effort to make the factory regulators work; I decided the function of rolling up and down was just too kwirky. I found a power kit that has a lot of flexibility and I will use crank switches so I can still have a factory door panel and window crank look.
