Cab Swap...

Post by mow_er_racer »

Any reason a 70 F100 cab could not be swapped for a 69?

Nope... They are identical. All 67 thru 72 cabs can be swapped for each other. All the (non-crew cab  ) cabs and frames are the same dimensions.

Oh I see one major reason why not to do it. I am too lazy! As Rich said they are all the same with only minor differences in different year cabs as to how the tank mounts. It has no affect on mounting the cab to the chassis though and I don't think there is a difference in the tanks themselves. Ford just changed how the tank mounts. I just learned all that here on this site the other day so I thought I would look all knowing.

The dash, which is welded in, is different on the '67 cab, so I would go with a '68-'72 i possible.

There a difference in the clutch rod hole location and size on the 67, not sure about others.

But that has no effect on a cab swap. We put a 67 cab on a 68 frame with zero issues. 67-72 frames can all be swapped with each other with no issues. You just use the same clutch components that are for the cab you are swapping with.

Some cabs don't have the hole cut for the removeable transmission cover , but that's easy to do.

Thanks for the information. Tank not an issue as I just received a new Mustang tank today that's going in the rear of the frame.
