New guy from Cali.

Post by GoodTimes »

Greetings,
New guy here from southern california.
I'm the proud owner of a not so cherry 1968 f-100.
It currently has a 360 that's been rebuilt by the previous owner. The engine runs strong but I'm afraid of the 9 or so MPG of these engines.
I took the liberty of sourcing a C6 with a small block case and already have a fresh 351W with ported heads and a comp cams extreme 4X4 cam.
I should be a better truck engine than the 360 in it now and a little better on fuel. I've seen the CV front suspension swaps and I'm going to try this.
I was originally going to go with the Baja truck theme but the cost is very prohibitive not to get laughed at out here.
Besides the whole reason I like these trucks is that they look so good lowered.
Anyway, looking forward to sharing the experiences with everyone here.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been traveling for work but should be home soon. I'll take some pics of how she sits now.

I'm in north OC right now in Buena Park. I'll probably be relocating to the Bay Area. I'll be working in Vallejo so I'll look for a place close to there. If that happens I'm going with the lowered look for sure. I'd like to keep the whole bed and with a Baja style truck the cage and suspension will take up most of the space. Plus there's not a lot of desert up there.

They're 19x9.5 fronts and 19x10.5 rears.

Do you have a lwb or swb truck? If you have a swb, there is a socal member here named Marz that has a frame for sale with the entire front cv swap already installed. He does awesome work and is selling the entire thing cheaper than you could do it yourself. He is located in the San Fernando Valley and there are pictures of it somewhere probably in the for sale area. Go back a ways though as he listed it over a year ago. I would have bought it but we had just finished a lwb to swb coversion and did not want to swap the truck a second time. I know he still has it and is still selling it...

Found the thread. It documents the full build and the the offer for sale. If you have a shortbed and want to do this swap, then this is a great deal... http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &sk=t&sd=a
