New from gold country CA

Post by Green72 »

Wife and I just picked up a 72 and in my research discovered this site. Actually the truck was my father in law's. He bought it new in 72, sold it to wife's family in late nineties, we just bought it back. Trucks in great running condition, gonna be a fun vehicle.

Ok being a newbie maybe I can ask this question without drawing a bunch of critism. I have seen different terms for some of these trucks. Lkee mine, a 72, is referred to as a bump or bump side, why? What is a dent, beyond the obvious. And I've seen one other referring to a slick. Can I ask where these terms came from and what years are in each group. Thanks

67-72 trucks are "bumpsides" or "bumps" due to the bump that runs down the side of the truck.

73-79 truck are "dentsides" for the same reason. Instead of a bump, they have a "dent" down the side.

The generations before the bumps 61-66?? Or 62-66? Anyway, those are called slicks for their smooth sides.
