Post by Mike-fire32 »

I just picked up a 1970 F-100 long bed Ranger equipped with a 360, AT, PS & PB. I was working on a 65 F-100 when I bought this truck and had posted on the Slick 60's site, so now I am here. I had been looking at this truck for about 6 months, and when I found out the price had dropped $1,500 from what he was asking, I figured I couldn't pass it up. The 65 had the Ranger package with the bucket seats, so I am familiar with that option, and when I stopped at a wrecking yard about a half mile from me, I found a 69 with the bucket seats (and brackets) in it. They are pulling them out for me for $50. The seats will need to be reupholstered to match the green interior, but I figured I would keep them in storage until I am ready.

After dealing with some maintenance issues, such as new weather stripping and window rubbers, I plan to lower it with a set of drop beams and put on new tires and wheels, probably 18" billets. I will probably get rid of the rear bumper and put a pan on it and pull the bumper guards. After those upgrades, I plan to have fun at the car shows this summer.

If you just stopped in at a salvage yard and found a factory pair of buckets with brackets, you'd better go buy a few lottery tickets too, 'cause you're on a winning streak. Normally those are next to impossible to find. Good score!

I'm going to head down to the wrecking yard tomorrow to see if they have been able to get them out. It was about 30 degrees when I was there and the snow hit the next day. We had about 12" of snow over the weekend, not too common for this area, so I doubt the guy got around to it. Since I have the 65 Ranger, I knew what I was looking at and was shocked to say the least.
