Plastidip
I have been using plastidip to paint a few brackets and my inner fenders. I tested it's durability by prepping and painting a scrap bracket that I had laying around and throwing it in the old ammo box I carry tools in the trunk of my car. After a month of rolling around in there it still looked the same as when I painted it. My concern and my question is this.....does anyone have experience using this stuff on exterior parts? I am wondering if it will turn chalky or deteriorate if exposed to the sun. I know people spray cars with it, but I was hoping for some first-hand feedback.

Plastidip is the same stuff that is applied to the handles of pliers; just thinned out. So, you can expect it to handle sun damage just as well. People do the wheels of their cars, chrome grill parts, mirror shells. Pretty much anything on the car that they want. It will scratch and peel when abraded. The beauty of it though is that you can peel it off, and reapply it with little work. I wouldn't rely on it for rust protection on metal parts. A good primer should be applied to bare metal before applying plastidip; just like any other paint. Colors are rather limited compared to paint.

On my prepped parts, I couldn't get it to peel off. I'm sure on chrome or painted parts with no prep, it would come off in one piece. I will experiment with the thinning process as the aerosol can variety is too thin.

Check out You Tube, there are a ton of videos about plastidip, some of them are professional companies doing the video's, others are personal ones. Your prepped parts should peel off if you put enough coats on it. A little You Tube seaching should help you out with this.
