Hello all I am a brand new Member, and glad to be here.
Great news, I purchased a 67 F-100 yesterday. Barn find and what a find. 460, C6 tranny B&M floor shift with R lock out. Posi track 9" with Ladder rack mounts welded to it and the frame, short bed, green white primer and rust. Sitting on centerlines and slightly flat tires. Short Bed, oh yeah lots and lots of dust, bird crap, and mice nests, oh, oh and the smell in the cab of old gas. Man I love this truck.
Got her home Sunday, shot a video, drained the old gas changed the plugs, stuck a half dead battery and charger in her, threw a little gas down her throat and in the tank, hit the switch and saw a few sparks around the electronic ign, fixed that. More gas down the carb, 93 oct of Course I want her to like me enough to get to first base, Hit the switch. She spun and spit fired for a second, more gas hit the switch, fired up, I ran to the front spilling more gas in the carb, she kept running. Now I have a perma grin she is running pretty smooth, if you ignore the white smoke coming out the back all is good. Keeping it running while throwing squirts of marvel mystery down the carb and in the valve covers. He he he let her smoke. She cleared up after a bit, if know i need to do a compression check but that will be later i want to have fun with the old girl, at least one dance before we get married. Checked the breaks, they hold up great, so I slipped her in drive, nothing, she is shy. I gave it some gas and she crept forward, shifted to reverse same thing. Shutdown checked the tranny fluid, nothing on the stick. Four quarts later we are pulling down the driveway. She is loping along pretty well (I live in the country private rd.) I hit the paved part of the road dropped in 1st and just wanted to see...gas pedal down, slight hesitation, (gummed up carb) but she came alive, both tires spinning and more smoke but now from the tires. Turned around at the end of the road, brought her home drained the oil no metal, changed oil and filter. Checked for leaks, all good.
More to come and I will post on the project forum going forward but good to be here and just wanted you to know you have a new Brotha. By the way Dinoeater is my handle, because this baby is going to eat a lot of dinosaur bones.
I had a 67 back in my high school years (the 80's) and have been looking for a while so I am reliving my youth and it is going to be fun. God Bless...
