1972 ford truck auxiliary tank switch

Post by Kentucky new guy »

I received my 1972 camper special when my father passed. I restored it about 10 years ago. I started having problems with my auxiliary tank switch in terms of getting no needle indication on the guage from either tank. My son got up under the dash a couple of years ago and I am afraid that I do not know what he did other than rearranging wires from the back of the switch. I take the truck to shows so I do not drive it much. I am at the point that I want to get the problem fixed.

I got a replacement switch from off of ebay in pretty good shape with the wiring in place through the rubber female wiring harness that plugs onto the back. I read the other posts but none of them actually answered my exact questions. The replacement switch has 6 colored wires. There are 3 black, 1 orange, one green with a red stripe, and one solid green.

In case my son did some creative wiring under there, is there anyone that can tell me where each wire goes so that I can back track them in case he changed the original wiring colors from my first switch. I will do the other things mentioned with the tank sending units etc after I get this new switch wired in properly. I also purchased a new voltage stabilizer for behind the dash from LMC truck (part# 47-0894) which I will also install after I get this new switch properly wired up. I would sure appreciate someone helping me with where the 6 wires go. Thank you in advance
