New member with 1970 F100 SportCustom
Hello from Germany!
My name is Christian and my gf and I bought a 1970 F100 SportCustom with Explorer Package when we were on vacation in CA/AZ/NV in October.
The truck was built in San Jose and that's where we bought it. It still has the original black plates and I've got the service records starting from the mid seventies.
It is in decent shape, just needs a tune-up and a few new gaskets. The last owner painted it black (its original color was Explorer green). Unfortunately the bed rails and the west coast mirrors are missing.
The F100 is on its way to Europe and hopefully we will be able to pick it up in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in January.
A few pictures of the F100:

Welcome aboard from Gerber, Ca. Good looking truck, and it looks familiar, but there r a lot of them out there I believe the mirrors you are referring to are the West Coast Junior.

Re: New member with 1970 F100 SportCustom
Thank you for the warm welcome, guys!
There are not that much pickup trucks in Germany and there are more Chevys than Fords. But my friends and I who have a nice hobbyist garage where we are working on our cars are more Ford guys. I have a 67 Mustang Coupe, a 69 Mach 1 in restoration, my gf has a 67 Galaxie fastback. A friend just sold his 65 Mustang and now gets a 53 F100 built and my other friend owns a 63 1/2 Galaxie fastback.
If anyone has a nice set of west coast junior mirrors please let me know! I'd be happy to replace those tiny ones on the truck.

Re: New member with 1970 F100 SportCustom
A little update: We were able to pick the truck up in Rotterdam last week. A lot of parts for my Mach 1 came with it so it was fully loaded with parts.
We had our Nissan truck with us so we could stow everything on the truck beds.
Unfortunately we had problems with the F100 after 200 miles without a hassle about 30 miles from home. The fuel pump filter was full of rust and debris. So I drove to our garage with the Nissan, got 2 other fuelpumps and went back. After having changed the fuel pump the F100 wouldn't start anymore - it didn't help. So we went home and a day later the truck got home to our garage with the ADAC (that's our AAA).
Now I will have to drain the tanks and try to clean them since the fuel lines between pump and tanks seem to be cloaked.

Welcome from Texas! You may have rust dirt in the carb float bowl too. Just went through this with a 66 mustang.

Welcome. That's a nice pickup, good score there. Yeah old gas tanks can shut you down eh?
It's pretty odd to my American eyes to see these old trucks in Europe.

Hehe, it was odd for us to see that huge amount of beetles and VW buses when we were in Pomona at the swap meet too
People are more into muscle cars over here, but the group of truck owners is growing and growing. Probably because of the still rising prices for Mustangs, Camaros and others too.
