72 F250 CS..truck bed uneven 1-2 in.

Post by sb2203 »

Bought this awesome truck a few weeks ago and I am noticing that the bed is uneven to the left 1 or 2 in. Anybody ever run into that before? Any idea what could cause that? :?

Check the mounts for the bed for damage or decay. Then check your cab mounts, the bed on my truck doesn't line up because the cab is tilted. At first glance it appears the bed is out of whack. Use a tape measure in between your cab and bed to measure from the top of your frame rails to the top of your bed-it should be the same on both sides. If it is, do the same for the cab, top of frame to bottom of rear glass on both sides.

In review, I may have misunderstood. If you are talking about a shift to the side, do the same measurement from the outside of the frame rails to the outside of the bed and cab.

Yeah when you stand at the rear and look towards the front, you see that the bed cab is leaning towards the left an inch or two.

It may be a very simple fix.. There is a little bit of play in the bed bolts for adjusting purposes... Just loosen all of the bed bolt and then adjust the bed left and right until it sits where you want it. Then tighten all of the bolts back down.

I would take all the measurements I mentioned to be sure it's the bed. Always measure from the frame, I did the same for my truck-bed was straight, the cab was tilted. Your eyes can deceive you.

Here's a shot of mine when I got it. The bed and cab don't line up because my cab mounts are gone. The bed is dead straight, the cab is out by almost 2 inches.

Mine is off by about 1/2" and I was hoping new cab rubber mounts might fix it. If the mount flanges are not wasted and it still does not line up I will shim the bed.
