fender seals
I purchased new fender/apron seals and i knew i was going to have to put staples in the apron seal but i was wondering if anyone has tried rivets. I searched the post on this subject but could not find if anyone tried the rivets. Those staples look like they will be a pain in A**

Re: fender seals
To be honest they are. I had to drill holes for mine as well (aftermarket inner fenders) it's not to bad with a little help. Once the staples are through the rubber just take some pliers and bend them the best you can. We had to get two or three tries on them to close completely. Hope this helps.

Re: fender seals
My plan is to use some contact cement to hols them on while I drill and put the staples in. I'll also cut a groove in the jaws of my pliers to help start the bend on the staples. Those suckers are tough to bend. Here's a good write up I'll be using for a guide. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =7&t=45011

Re: fender seals
Thanks sarge, if i decide to go with the staples i guess i'm going to have to call NPD and have them to send more staples. What was sent with seals is not enough to do job.sargentrs wrote:My plan is to use some contact cement to hols them on while I drill and put the staples in. If they won't, contact DC. I did n they sent more n I didn't buy my seals from them. Of course I didn't tell them that but hey, they didn't ask either.

Haha, I did this job last spring. Use your own skills, I used rivets. Use what you got available. Use rivets, do a neat job of it.

Re: fender seals
i decided to use 1/8 in. rivets with washers on rubber side. Very satisfied with it. When they were installed i taped the rubber and painted the rivets section black, same as inner fender Looks neat too. Only one question. Does the rubber curl up on firewall to inside or outside of inner fenders?

Re: fender seals
Curls up under, around the edge. It not only asks as a seal, it inhibits squeaks and rattles from the inner fender scrubbing on the firewall.

Re: fender seals
I bought some rubber seals but after a while they cracked and fell apart after two years. Any of youz guys suffer the same fate? I don't think they're UV rated like EPDM (pond liner) which is what I plan to use.
