Hello! I need some help.

Post by John Han »

Hello every one. I'm John and I'm fourteen. I am trying to fix up an old 1971 390 engine.i need to remove a gasket on the radiator to be replaced. I also have to replace some hoses connected to the radiator also. The only problem is that there is no room to fit the hose between the two spots it connects. If anyone can help that would be great! Hope I can get it running

:wel: from Georgia! If you could post some pics of what you're referring to, it would help us to help you. Or can you pick it out on this diagram? http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... ing-FE.jpg

Also, post your question (with some pictures) in the section that refers to it like the Engine section. Reason why is not everyone might read the Welcome Mat and some people with the right "know-how" might have a better chance of seeing your question if you post in those areas.

There are no gaskets on the radiator.

The supply and return hoses to radiator are easy. Just get the parts, carefully use a pry bar under the existing hoses and remove, then wet with water and slip the hoses on.

The little hose between the water pump and intake manifold is hardly. Cut a piece of hoses to length using the existing as a measure, cut the old hose off of the nipple, install one end of the new hose using a little water for lub with both hose clamp loose, then bend hose and install the other end. Tighten the hose clams at each end.

Welcome to the site.

That hose is not easy. You might trim 1/4" from either end of the nipples to help work the hose on.
