Preventing Future Cab Rust

Post by Randle »

Around this part of the country rust is a big issue, I had to make a 1,000 mile round trap to find a almost rust free cab, and I am now working on stripping it down to restore the truck. Long story short while working on the cab today I got to thinking, which could be dangerous at times. On my old cab I am replacing several of the spots that rusted did so from the inside. One of the spots that is bad about rusting is above the gutter area on the edge of the roof. I have cleaned the sealer out of the gutter and will replace that with new. I would love to treat the void inside the cab behind the gutter, but it is really tight and would be hard if not impossible to clean. I have thought about using Internal Frame Coating from Eastwood, http://www.eastwood.com/internal-frame- ... le-qt.html, but I didn't know if that would be the best way to treat these spots, or if anyone knows of a better way of doing it. What is the rest of you guys doing to prevent rust in areas like this, it would be a lot of time and trouble to rework the a cab just to have to rust out in a year or two.
