Ford Fender quiz for the gurus out there!!

Post by doughboy68 »

I have a 68 F100 and found a front clip off a 67 F100 - it appears on the front end of the fenders, the edge where the bolt holes are in the area below where the headlights would be (to help visualize...), the 67 is a different shape.... looks like a "V" notch and it looks like it was built that way. Did not look damaged or that it had been hit???? Actually looks like it was pressed that way. The fender off the 68 in the same spot is straight as can be.

Anybody been doing this longer than me that can help explain this one? I will take pictures and attach when I get home from work tonight. But, thought someone might know off the top of the 'ol noggin!!.

I went out and looked at my '67 and it doesn't have the notch. Do both your fenders have the notch?

By the looks of your pictures , I think the bottom got pushed up and that pushed the edge out.
Try pulling down on the fender and pushing or hammering the point back in. :2cents:

I think Mancar is the winner. I went and checked the other fender... Both sides (my other fender was with the truck at a buddy's, in the bed) have identical notches so I think the generator thought works... neither side is wrecked, the fenders are square with the world and came off a solid, straight front end clip. Thanks for all the input.... if someone else knows for sure, I am still open for a 100% explanation.... :fr:
