New from Atlanta, GA

Post by Damon23 »

Was looking for a specific site for these trucks and glad I found one. I picked up this neat 68 the other day. I really wanted a long bed highboy truck but this thing just kept jumping out at me on the screen. It is a custom cab with the only real option is the power brakes if that was a option. It was born with a 360 and a three on the tree but the previous owner (12 years and he got it from the original owner) converted it to a 300 and the 4 speed with granny gear. That was very attractive to me as I always heard great things about the 300. I could live without the 4 speed but that is not a major priority. Was wondering if there is any real value to this truck? Only a couple minor rust spots, new floor pans and a few spots where I see paint issues. I want to replace the windshield (fogging at the bottom) replace the rear window seal, new window guides, radio and upgrade to disc brakes up front. I also want to paint the grill and wheels white to match the bumpers and break up the green. Tell me what you think, I may end up trading or selling if I could find the right 4x4. Thanks for looking.

Hello and welcome! :fr:
The truck looks to be in great shape, I think she's a keeper
The value is mostly in your own feelings for keeping these old trucks in service. Dollar wise not so much. Most folks modify them to their hearts content due to the relatively low collectors value. To each his own... :2cents:
I would leave the windshield alone as long as it doesn't leak. I am thinking of painting my bumpers white to match my roof and wheels, the grill I will leave chrome for the reason you stated, need to break up the colors a bit.
Good luck and have fun!
