Tailgate Issue

Post by 71camperSP »

Hello all,

My tailgate is off kilter and I'm wondering if there's something wrong or missing and what I can do to get it to open and close smoothly. Any tips or information would be great.

Thank you.

If you mean side to side you can stick a shim or a washer in the hinge receiver and get your side to side as for the tailgate level from one side to the other the hinges are adjustable you just loosen the 2 bolt and move your hinge. your latch receivers are also adjustable. You have to tinker with it for a while and get everything lined up and it will close easy for you. I hope this helps.

I am wanting to move it from right to left to free up the left latch. I'll be putting you tips to work tomorrow. I'll update how it went. Thanks a lot for the info. The tailgate is the last trouble area as far as opening and closing things go. Then on to the mile long list of everything else.

Ended up using washers to shim the sockets at the bottom. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tips.
