old 67 owner new owner

Post by myoldmanstruck »

I just inherited my dads 1967 f100. I am stationed in Hawaii and I am picking it up when I move to Georgia next March.

It is a fixer upper, a lot of sheet metal work needs to be done and it needs a new engine and transmission.
I work on helicopters for a living but am not mechanically inclined on autos. I have been doing some research and am trying to find good possibikities for the motor replacement and new suspension/axles/breaks. I want a big motor, 302 or bigger, I want alot of power. I've loojed into crate motors but I just don't think my wife would like me buying a $10k motor.
I will post picture when I'm back stateside. Any help, guideance, ideas, anything is much appreciated.

Welcome, and thank you for your service! Do you know what engine it has in it now?
(PS: There has been more than one member here who has acquired a new name after buying a '67: daddy. It started with the site owner, Keith. It's known as The Curse of the 67's. Or blessing! )

Thank you guys for the welcome! Right now it has no engine, my dad was swapping with a 302 but needed a new tranny. All she has in her is a bench seat, 4 wheels and a toolbox. I am looking for a larger engine, trying to see what everyone else went with before I choose my own.

***Update***

Here is a quick photo of my truck, I had a family member take a photo, so come next summer I'll have better photos.
My biggest thing, as you can see is, I have no hood. And finding them online is proving to be difficult.

Does anyone in the South Eastern Georgia area (or any part of Georgia/Alabama/ North Florida area,) have any tips as to where I could find one?

Thanks
