Back from the dead
Well I was a member of this site and in early 2006 my 72 SWB was stolen when I returned to the military. So I've been away from these trucks for far too long. Currently on my third Army deployment (5th overall) and decided to talk the wife into letting me get back into a 67-72 SWB. I think I found a heck of a deal to start with and developing a game plan. I found a project on Craigslist and fingers crossed it's not another scam or missed opportunity. I've already missed out on a nice 78 SWB I was considering and another 72 SWB that the guy gave me the run around. This deal is for a 67 SWB project. The PO has already installed the 06 CV Inceptor front end and a No Limit 4 link with coil overs. Cab has some severe floorboard rust and he's not a body guy. Plus he bought another Corvette project. Included parts are brand new LMC core support, floor boards, mounts, etc. Sounds too good to be true. So fingers crossed as I'm stuck in Afghanistan trying to walk the wife through this.
Plan is to find a running truck with better cab to enjoy throughout the winter months and/or however long it might take to work on the chassis. The plan is to draft up a couple of different ideas and let my youngest boy (4yr old is showing real interest in being a motorhead) decide on final direction. Then work on the chassis and the 67 bed. Once it's painted and prepped, I'll take the running truck off the road to start working on the cab and such. Well finger's crossed and I'll be around here soaking up as much info and inspiration!

Re: Back from the dead
Thanks guys. Just received an email from the PO and this deal is looking like a "GO". I'm hoping it all works out. Seems like the gentleman is really willing to work with me and see this truck go to someone that will complete it. Even willing to etch the bare frame, trailer it 123 miles to my wife's house and tarp it for me. I really don't want to put too much up here as I just feel knowing my luck it will jinx me. But I'll try to post up some pics.

Thanks, yeah I need the luck. My wife thinks I'm wasting my money. I think $2200 is a good deal. But what do women know?

Re: Back from the dead
Knew I shouldn't have mentioned the project! Looks like I'll have to pass on this. The wife is wanting to move back up to NY after I return. Also, she says the Mountaineer is starting to worry her so that might have to make a trip to Tri Lakes Ford which never seems to be cheap on me. So after much pleading, she won. Gonna play it safe and pass on the project and not touch the savings yet until we have stuff looked at before she makes the drive up.
