Question on mirror mounting
On the style mirror below, I have plastic insulators/gasket between the mirror and the door skin on the bottom mount. Is there supposed to be the same plastic insulator/gasket on the top two bolts where it bolts to the door frame also?
Thanks in advance

Re: Question on mirror mounting
I just took a mirror like that off my replacement door, and it had gaskets on the top and bottom mounts. Does your door have the correct inserts or just bolts screwing into the sheetmetal?

Re: Question on mirror mounting
Mine does not have inserts and I thought it was all original. We bought the truck new, its had acorn nuts top and bottom forever
Thanks for the info on the gaskets, I'll try to find two more

Re: Question on mirror mounting
Mine didn't have top gaskets on it either, but trucks arrived at the dealership with no exterior mirrors. Mirrors were in the cab, on the seat. The factory didn't install mirrors because they could not know the intended use of the vehicle and there were different mirror options. Exterior mirrors were dealer installed.

Re: Question on mirror mounting
I guess it probably just depends on what the guys at the dealership put on as to what each truck will have. My door had gaskets top and bottom, bolts and nuts on the top, and bolts and inserts on the bottom. The gaskets are to keep the metal brackets from chipping the paint.

Re: Question on mirror mounting
I originally had the West Coast SR mirrors (three points, six bolts total each dor). I had one original bolt when I got the truck. It was kind of a "T" shape, with the length of the T threaded to mount the mirror and go through the acorn nut. From Ford drawings, I remember there being pads between the mirrors and the door panels, so I ended up cutting my own pads out of rubber before mounting the mirrors.
Anyone have a lead on those "T" bolts? All I need is four (although I could really use eight) ...

Re: Question on mirror mounting
My door had 'em, I'll try to remember to check in the morning to see if I kept them.

Ah, well, we've all been guilty of that at one time or another. Thanks for looking.

Re: Question on mirror mounting
Does anyone know the proper name of that kind of mirror. I believe it is some type of West Coast Jr.
but it is not the capmer style because they stick out further. I would like to find some of those but don't know the name of what I would be looking for. Thanks
