Frame straightening

Post by 69Ford »

My truck hasn't had a tailgate since the seventies. I purchused a tailgate last year and could not get it to line up with the upper right latch. The upper
right side of the box seemed pushed out about a quarter inch. with the tailgate closed looking from the back of the truck it seems the whole right
side of the box is lower than the cab. The truck had a fifth wheel trailer camper and was jackknifed into the cab and repaired many years ago and
know looks like the frame is tweaked and not repaired. Is something like this fixable I'll take a picture tomarro. The truck seems to drive and track

Two things may be at work here. Truck beds lose ALOT of support when the tailgate is removed. I've seen the entire bedside come loose in the rear and flop around. That said, things are probably out of whack for that reason. As far as the bed/cab misalignment-I'd check the bed/cab mounts. I would suspect that a tweaked frame from a jack-knife incident would cause tracking issues, but the only way to be sure is to check it with a tape measure.

Thanks I looked under the truck today the frame on the left side has some bulging right where the cab meets the box. Going to a frame and axle shop
in the next day or two. I sure hope its fixable and not to expensive. Didn't have time to get a picture
