Aftermarket bumper quality from DC/Lmc...etc?

Post by cole71 »

I'm about ready for a set of sport bumpers for my truck, but I'm not sure of what route to take? I know I can buy aftermarket bumpers from DC, Lmc,etc... but I'm leery of the quality.

I checked on a local chrome shop to straighten/re-chrome my bumpers and I think the price will be close (maybe a little more) than that of the aftermarket bumpers.

Basically, what are you guys experience with the aftermarket stuff or should I have what I've got re-chromed?

Thanks, Cole

Repro bumpers seem to made of thinner gauge metal and the chrome looks fuzzy. I recommend rechroming the originals. That way, you can control the quality instead of settling on whatever arrives in the big brown truck.

:yt:
The cheap replacement bumpers are really light and thin...easy to distort around the 4 mounting bolt heads when cinched down. Mine also had ripples, not a very good stamping.
I once stuck my head out the window while driving to see what was making the buzzing noise, elcheapo bumper was actually flapping around in the wind...
