Flareside question

Post by rdaniel911 »

My son in law wants to put a flareside bed on the 72 explorer, so i'm wondering, how much difference is there in the box itself all the way to the 80's flareside boxes, are they close and could you put the old style rounder fenders on it, or do just the 67-72 going to fit?

The flareside beds are the same from 1953 to 1979 for the most part. The bed's cross members may be different due to different frame widths from one generation to the next but I believe there are several companies that sell the cross members by themselves if you found a good donor bed or even bought an entirely new bed from these same companies.

As far as the '80-'86 generation beds, I'm not sure...
