re: manual brakes?
have you bled the brake lines? Did you table-bleed the new master cylinder before installing it? If not, that could cause air, which means more pumping.

re: manual brakes?
hombre, yes i did "bench bleed" the Mc , but i didnt bleed new(fresh) fluid the whole way thru the system, so that could be the problem

Yep, you may have air trapped in there from the switch. Plus new fluid through your lines is a good idea.

Yup!
Not flushing and putting new BF your system is like taking a dump and then not wiping afterwards or doing changing engine the oil without replacing the filter...

Yeah Keith I guess I really do!
Back in 85 when I was attending SDSU I worked at this Chevron station driving a Tow Truck. Well one afternoon this dude walked up to the boss and asked him if he would do an oil change without changing the filter. There were a couple of us guys standing around BS'n so Bob (the Boss) responded with "When you take a crap, do you wipe afterwards? None of us could believe what we'd just heard. The dude was with his girlfriend but he put his "tail" between his legs and without muttering another word scamperd away nevr to be seen again.
Wow that was a unforgetable experience that afternoon.

You may also need to adjust the brakes.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

re: manual brakes?
Is it possible to get the system bled without "bench bleeding" the master cylinder. I got in a hurry and installed it without "bench bleeding". I am using a vacuum pump to bleed each brake cylinder (not done yet). Am I chasing my tail or will it just take longer?

Just takes longer and make sure you keep filling the MC and not letting it suck dry till your air free.
