New Member from Michigan 1971 F100
My name is Matt and i am a new member here! I Just got my 1971 F100 out of storage / plated / insured / and on the road
I bought the truck for $2,000 of craigslist
Truck was built in Michigan and lived its life in Mississippi. The guy I bought it from had the engine rebuilt, the truck repainted, and brought it back to Michigan. The truck is still its original color and everything appears to be pretty much stock. It is missing a lot of trim and its needs a couple of new parts but all in all it is a good, rust free truck. It runs and drives great!!
Truck has the 240 ci engine
three on the tree
3.83 Gears
Sea-pine Green with green and light green interior
says 15k miles but is prob 115k? who knows
Still trying to decide which way to go on this project. I don't have the finances to do anything with it right now but it is fun to make plans
I had a 1997 4x4 f250 with a straight axle dana 60 i was going to swap the '71 body onto to it. I wanted to make a lifted 1 ton F100 with a fuel injected 460 and 1 ton axels. I was planning on about a 4-6 in lift and 35" tires. Was thinking red with black interior! ..... but that plan kind of fell through and i sold the '97.... I still think these trucks would look awesome on 35's
Now i am thinking of Bolting in a crown vic front end, and either hopping up the 240 and replacing the transmission or swapping out the 240 and tranny all together. Does anyone know what you can do with these 240's can you bore it out to over 300ci and put a turbo on it? (sounds cool)
the third option would be to just keep it original, and slowly restore it. It runs good enough now that i can drive it to work everyday. The only thing is the 240 is not exactly a powerhouse and the three on the tree is not my favorite setup. If the truck came 4wd with factory air and a 390 I wouldn't be as temped to modify it. Also if i restore I would have to keep the green on green interior. (as a plus the girls are nuts about the color, they love it!)
Thoughts?

Welcome from Georgia! Your trucks looks to be painted Ford 'Winter Green' which is the same color my 72 F-100 is painted. My truck looks very similar to yours, except mine is a long bed. Good luck with the project!
This site is GREAT for everything related to our trucks!

from California! Nice looking truck! I would do your 2nd option with the truck and get the truck a little lower to the ground. I would keep the exterior body and interior farly original with very subtle hints of modifications to both. Thats just my two cents, but it is your truck and have fun driving it!

Re: New Member from Michigan 1971 F100
to the site. Good looking truck for sure. A nice set of wheels will make it look like a real gem!
If it were mine, I would keep it mostly original looking on the outside/inside. Do all the additions, power disc brakes in front, power steering, those kinds of things. Hop up the 6 banger or build a healthy small block for it. But since you have the 240 & it's a good runner, I would probably just warm it over real good. Combine that with the low gears & it'll make for a fun truck!
