Well, my 71 is painted, replaced the hood with one from a junkyard. I "think" it may have been a 69 hood, but I honestly don't remember what year it came off of
I went to put my 71 hood letters on today and the spacing for the studs on each letter is completely different. The 71 letters seem significantly wider
The truck is a bit of a mongrel, 71 grille, 72 grille inserts, no chrome on the base of the hood, so I dont care if I use the 71 letters, but I would like letters that fit the existing holes.
Anyone know which year letters I need? Thanks in advance
Can anyone help me with hood letters? OOOPS

67-69 used the smaller letters with the studs closer together. 70-72 used the larger letters with the studs farther apart. Sounds like you need the 67-69 letters.

Perfect, that checks with the parts description for LMC. The truck I got the hood from must have been a 69.
Thanks!

Easy way to tell is on the underside of the hood if the side are solid then its a 70-72, if it has window cut outs on the sides it a 67-69.

I have a super nice 70-72 hood (complete with the letters and trim) I would be willing to trade for a 67-69 hood in similar condition. But I am near Milwaukee and there are many miles between us.
