should i keep the beltline trim or not?

i have a pair of straight fenders for my 70 with no holes for the belt line trim. Should i drill the holes for the trim and get new clips?

Of course this is your truck and do what you like, but I personally like just the beltline trim on our trucks. That's the only trim I'm putting back on mine. I'm not putting the lower trim that goes on the fenders, doors, and bed. Again, this is just my

You only mentioned the fenders, so I am assuming you would also remove the trim from the doors and bed. I like the completely dechromed look, but I am very old school when it come to the looks of a vehicle. I guess my question would be; what look are you after? A very basic style that relies on the body lines for character, or are you wanting more shine. Of course it is cheaper to leave it off!

Like it is said above, it is completely up to you. My personal taste is no side trim at all. but again, that is my taste. If you already have holes in the rest of your truck for trim, then the easy answer is to put the holes in the fenders and run the trim since it would be a lot more work to fill all the other holes if you do not run it. A better option (if possible) is to see if you can find good fenders that already have the trim holes in them so you are not putting holes in good non-trim fenders. But if that is not an option, then drill away. Me personally, I would remove it all and fill the holes and leave your fenders untouched.

My choice was to go without trim (I'm currently filling in holes where my trim used to be) My reason was because everywhere I had trim, that was where the rust started on my truck. So for the moment I am "anti-trim". Of course I'm dealing with a rust bucket, and living in the rust belt.

Mine came from the factory with trim, so I'll be putting new trim back on. But if it didn't start that way, I'd probably go without. I'm trying to stay fairly stock. But as above, that's just my two cents ...

If it came from the factory with trim, put it on. If not leave it off.

Mine had trim originally, and the tabs broke off the back of almost all the pieces. Instead of buying new tabs the PO RIVETED the trim to the body

Just a thought. Works at my house. Very rewarding for both parties. My truck gets better-looking every day, and my wife feels good about getting involved with my hobby.

My 72 F100 is currently painted red with a white top and has no trim. It will need a new paint job soon, so borrowing an idea I got from truck I saw in a magazine last year, I intend to paint that raised area that formerly would have held the trim a cool metallic silver. I hope this gives you a third option instead of just "yes" or "no".
