Just wanted to say thanks

Post by fordchris47 »

I'd like to start by saying thank you for everybodies posts of their trials and tribulations, improvments and advice. I stumbled on the fordification website about two years ago, not much of a computor person more hands on and getting dirty. without this website (and a couple others i won't mention) i never would have been able to do the never ending repairs and improvments that my truck has required. it will be three years this may that i've owned my at the time 72' p.o.s.. when i got it it stumbled, shook, backfired and would hardly start without killing the battery and requiring a jump. its been a real love/hate relationship to say the least. my grandfather and father were both ford guys, i on the other hand just drove whatever came down the pike but now after almost three years of cursing, yelling, blood, sweat and beers (also alot of pride) i wounldnt drive anything else. my first real break down came in the form of a blow head gasket caused by overheating. after having the heads rebuilt, installing the factory two barrel intake and new holley 500 cfm carb i inadvertantly put the water and pcv hoses on the wrong connections, filled the radiator and what i beleive to be the entire top end. water came out of the carb like a fountain (the beginning of the cursing and yelling), pulled the plugs, turned the key and it was like eight humpback whales in my driveway shooting water everywhere. finally remembered the pics that i took and remedied the problem  . or the time an anxle shaft broke coming out of the grocery syore parking lot. while waiting for the part to come from Ok. i installed the edelbrock performer intake and performer plus cam and lifters i'd had saved for a rainy day (didn't know any better at the time or i would have put in a more aggresive cam). third and final tear down was my oil pressure was in the crapper (almost zero at idle) so i pulled the whole motor this time (just me and the forklift) and had the machine shop put in all the bearings and crank. 95% of the labor was done by myself (except for the machine shop) including the three times i had to pull the c6 (transmission shop helped on the rebuild). everything in the engine compartment has either been rebuilt or repaced, oh yeah , the hurst quarted stick install too (had dreams of taking it to the drag strip). i'd also like to thank my wife, not once did she complain about all the money and time that i spent on it, she just kept saying "you can do it baby". i did get two suprises in the form of trophies, 1st place the first year we went and 2nd place the second year at the 2010, 2011 sumertime blues fesival in freeport tx, who would have thought? i apologize for rambling, difficult to put my thoughts down on paper. once again thanks for everything :fr: . oh yeah, flat black 72' f100, 390, c6 with b&m shift kit and trans cooler, holley 600 cfm, accel points eliminator, msd streetfire ignition box and blaster 2 coil, some crappy flow tech headers with dual exhaust that i welded up into cherrybomb glasspacks and the mediocre edelbrock parts. i like to call it a poor mans hot rod, love my Fe. :fr:
72' f100, 390, performer rpm intake, performer rpm heads, summit cam 276 dur 533 lift, holley 750, flotech headers, c6, 350 rear end, electronic ignition and msd box.
