Noobie from Arkansas
My name is Stu and I have a problem but I am also fortunate to have a very supportive wife. I have owned a bump side, dent side or both my entire driving life from 1981 to present. I admit I have had a few other interests at the same time like a 1982 F250 4x4 I restored a few years back as well as a very fast and very fun 1964 Thunderbolt clone I built and recently sold to a buddy.....makes it nice for me since I get to drive it pretty much whenever I want. I also restored a 1941 Farmall BN which has not missed a hay season at home in West Virginia since she was new back in '41. My brother runs the farm now and takes great pride driving his "new" Farmall.
In 1999-2000, I restored a 1971 F-100 4x4 which I took to Pigeon Forge to the F-100 Supernationals and won a best of show in stock class. This truck was about a 98 point perfect stock restoration. Too nice to drive but I learned one thing after this resto - life is way to short to not drive or enjoy them the way they were designed to be used. I sold this truck after only putting 300 careful miles on it with many lessons learned.
Through the years I have owned several Ford trucks including a '61BBW and '62 Unibody F-100's, countless (in excess of 10) 1967-1972 Bumpides and one 1976 Highboy. I admit, I am addicted to old Fords AND from a young age (while vacationing in Canada for a few weeks each summer from 1977-present) I always wanted a Merc truck. My friend Big Red also known as Mike (mk) up in Alberta, Canada kindly snagged some Merc trim parts for a 67-68 conversion back in about 2000 or so. Been sitting on the Mercury parts til the time was right to complete the cloning. My 1970 F250 is turning into that truck slowly over the next few years or so. Since my very first Ford was a 1971 F-100 - boxwood green in color, my current diamond blue '70 model (390 4V FE powered) will get the full treatment over the next few years in stages. Hoping to recreate a 1968 Mercury M-250 in Boxwood green. My boys will be driving this truck for the next few years so let's hope and pray they develop a profound respect for this old steel we all admire so much......FYI- It is working!! They had the choice of painting her candy apple red, mojave tan, boxwood green or original diamond blue. They wanted boxwood green!!
My yellow1976 Highboy (114,000 original mile and fairly unmolested) was bought in 2008 from the 2nd owner in Oregon and is sitting in my shop in a million and one pieces. The paint was very decent and to be quite honest, the dismantling started innocently enough. Once I yanked the front clip off of her to pull the motor, I decided it would not take much to blast and paint the frame.... then it turned into a completely restored chasis and running gear with new interior parts and freshening. Basically she will be 100% new minus yellow paint. Currently I am waiting on the 360 FE motor to be rebuilt in it's next life as a 390 4V, the machine shop is taking its time . Everything else is basically 100% stock on this brute nicknamed Sunshine. I have learned a bunch over the years about bumpsides and dentsides.......so let's talk trucks!! Feel free to check out my photo gallery of my Mercury clone and my Highboy.....my old F-100 Supernat winner in mojave tan '71 F-100 4x4 is posted too. I sure do miss this old rig. Feel free to message me anytime. I have access to tons of old parts and I have a fair stash in my shop. My goal is enjoyment and preservation of this old steel. By the way, in case you are wondering, I restore them as new from the ground up but drive them and use them as intended including towing and hauling firewood. No trailer queens! Happy to be a part of this great niche site.

Re: Noobie from Arkansas
Thank you for welcoming me.......Bleeding Ford Blue???? Quite the understatement!!!! Alot of family ties with FoMoCo through the years. It's something of a hobby way of life and it's great therapy to play with old Ford iron - something my wife understands well. Thankfully, She sends me to the shop very often for such therapy! I will post pics as often as they are relavent.STROKER69 wrote:Stu welcome to the site, sounds as if you bleed true blue.

Your '76 looks just like the one my dad owned for a bit. My brother-in-law is restoring a '64 Fairlane that he drove in high school for his son. Loved your photos in the photo gallery. Where in AR are you located?

About 25 years ago, I lived in Batesville and about 37 years ago I lived in Searcy so I have a good idea where the area is you are located.feefie wrote:To my Arkansas bumps, I am from north of Searcy up in the metropolis of Providence which is located in the suburbs of Steprock.
