Toolbox lock

Toolbox lock

On my CS the toolbox on the passenger side, should the lock be the same as the door and ignition? If its not can it be rekeyed?
1969 F250 Camper Special, 390 2v, C6, PB, Bendix PS, AC, Dana 60. 3rd owner

Soon rebuilt 390, not stock, will be swapped in.

No, they are different keys. I don't think you could re-key one because the keys are different styles. I could be wrong, though.

Well shoot. Was hoping that they'd be the same. When I got the truck I only got the key for the door/ignition and nothing for the toolbox and I can't seem to find a replacement on any of the popular sites (Dennis carpenter, lmc, npd...etc).
How do I get a key for that lock then ?

I had a locksmith cut keys for mine, cost about $25. Stamped on the keys are what might be the type number, Y11.

You may be on to something there. My toolbox key also has Y11 on it.

I had forgotten about this post.

Thanks for the tips guys :thup: I'll probably go get this done at a locksmith in the next week or so. I have so many things "in process" for my build that I'm having difficulty to prioritize them. It's the little things like this that I'll need to not ignore.

Y11 is kinda the model number of that keyway.. But yes a locksmith will knock it out for you easy..
