1967 swb in MO

Post by chad67 »

Got my '67 f100 about 8 months ago. I've been collecting parts ever since. This site has been a wealthof information, however I have one question. My cab is pretty much gone, but I found one in nearly perfect shape on a '69 f100. The question is: can I swap my dash and heater box to my replacement cab and keep my one knob heater control?

Oh, and can I use the wire harness from the '69 in my '67 without too much trouble?

Yes to both questions with a lot of work. The ignition switches are a bit different. Between the 2 harnesses you should not have much trouble. The wiring diagrams for both years are on this site. Why do you want to make all the switches?

I'd like to keep the heater contols I have now because they are something you don't see every day. As for the wire harness, I am hoping the one in my replacement cab is better than the one in my rusted out cab-it looks like somebody did some wiring with an extension cord under the dash. I can use the ignition switch in the '69 in my '67, I just want to keep some of my '67 rarities intact.

You will also need to swap your '67 door onto the 69, if you want to keep the 67 rarities of the doors as well.

Yep, I already swapped a window regulator from my '68 or '69 parts truck to my '67 to keep my doors. Still gotta get some replacement handles for my window and latches. I got both of my parts trucks from the same guy and both metal door panels had speaker holes cut in them, so I gotta find them, too. The truck will be a restomod, so I'm gonna pick and choose the features I wanna change. I still have the '67 only hood emblems, too.

How are you gonna swap your 67 dash into the 69 cab? As one piece?
That would be alot of work and might be some unforseen problems. If youre fancy with the welder, and just wanted to have 67 heater knobs I suppose you could section out the heater knobs part of it and transfer it over.
edit; youve got the one-knob heater contol.

I suppose I'll find out what problems, if any that I run into. Not even sure if the harness in the '69 cab is any good-but I'm sure the one in my '67 is junk. Yes, i was planning to swap the dash as an assemby, it'll be easier to inspect and/or change the wire harness with it out of the way, so I figured on taking it out ayway. I just like the cleaner look of the one knob control.

It's good to see more members close by. For the longest time it seemed like all the members were at least 400mi away in any direction. One of these days a few of the Metro east/ StL guys are going to have a meet up/ cruise and lunch in Soulard.

Sounds like fun, but it'll be a while before I get to cruise in my F100. Hope T-birds are welcome!
