just getting started

Post by olsons67 »

i accuired this 67 f100 2wd swb when my dad passed. read this big thread from carcrafter and thought shoot this will be easy!!! lmbo not as easy as he made it sound but has been fun and interesting. took us approx 3 days to get old front end out and new bolted up. we keep running into little snags along the way. im replacing the 240ci 3spd with a 302 c-4, first couple snags are what are the best ideas for engine perches? the tranny we have has a bolted on yoke so now i have to buy another tranny with a sliding yoke. still trying to figure out a wheel and tire set up using factory rear axle? thank anyone for any suggestions. :? :D

First off, I'm so sorry for your loss. The truck should have some awesome memories that came with it!

The CV swap isn't for the timid but such a nice upgrade for our trucks. There's a lot of guys here that have done the swap that can help you with questions on it. You might be able to change the tailshaft and the yoke on the tranny versus the whole tranny? Bobby / ultraranger and a few other guys could answer that question better. And adding your location to your signature at the bottom of your posts will let other know where you are-in relation to parts inquiries. Maybe post a separate question here in the drivetrain section:

If you do only need the yoke though, I believe you might be able to get it here:
http://www.neapco.com/
And evilboy has always been a good source once you know the spline count on the output shaft:

And a rear hanger flip is an easy way to lower the rear if that's what your trying to do back there.

:wel: from Georgia. Sorry for the loss of your dad. You should get a set of small block engine perches for the 302. Post in the Parts Wanted section or cruise the Parts for Sale/Trade section. I saw a set on ebay a couple of days ago which included motor mounts, in decent shape, at a reasonable price too. As for the tranny yoke, you could always have a driveshaft modified at a drive line shop if there's one in your area. Around here it's not too expensive. Keep us posted on your project and we'll help any way we can!
